Right back is where the server goes on offense or where the setter comes out of on certain rotations.  When right front blocks the ball, right back has to be ready for the tip.  If they attack, right back players have to dig any thing on the right side of the court.

The set is usually performed by the setter (duh :])   The set is a form of an over head pass.  Performing this skill is very easy.  All you have to do is shape your hands to the ball, and hold them

high over your forehead.  When the ball contacts you hands, cushion the ball and then push outward.  There are three types of sets.  There is the regular set, the backwards set, and the jump set.

The block is a very important skill used in volleyball.  It is used when the other team spikes the ball.  As the ball comes out of the attackers hands, you jump as high as you can with your hands facing outward.  Hopefully if you block the right way, the volleyball will deflect back to the other side of the court.  The block becomes a commonly used skill as you get older and games become more advanced.

The spike is probably one of the hardest yet most fun skills used in the game of volleyball.  The spike is executed by the right, middle or left side attackers.  There are several things you have to practice before you can come close to hitting a good ball.  You have to make sure you snap your wrist to make the ball spin.  You also

have to time your approach to hit the ball at the best time.  Once the ball leaves the setters hands, you should start moving in towards the net.  When the ball is at its highest point, you jump as high as you can and spike the ball down on the ball.  Soon you will be spiking the ball like crazy!

A dig is just like the bump except harder.  When the ball is attacked by the other team, it usually comes screaming somewhere in the back court.  As the ball comes you have to get all the way under it and pop it up with your forearms.  For the dig, you have to move very fast.  If you don’t get under it in time, stick a fist out and punch the ball up!

The serve is a skill that everyone (except libero) on the volleyball team must be able to do.  There are two main types of serves.  The first one is an overhand serve, and the other is an underhand serve.  To execute the overhand serve you have to have a stiff hand held above your body.

You lift the ball and step into it and drive the ball.  An underhand serve is used by beginners.  You contact the ball underneath it to pop it up and over the net.  The under hand serve is really easy to play.
