Skis are the main part of skiing. There are many kinds of skis including Rossignol, Dynastar, K2, Line, Head, Fischer, and Atomic. I have always skied on Rossignol. Rossignol is an all mountain ski. Line is good for terrain parks, while Atomic is more of a racing ski. Each company makes many models of skis.

Goggles are also another very important part of skiing. Without goggles the cold air makes it hard to see. Goggles can help you see bumps and unfamiliar terrain. There are Spy, Oakley, and Smith. These are the biggest goggle companies. Most goggles are pretty much the same. If you don’t like the original lenses on your goggles you can keep the frame and just change the lenses.

Bindings are another very important part of skiing. Without bindings you wouldn’t be able to connect and stay on the ski. Bindings have different settings on them. The lower the binding number is set to the easier the ski will come off when you crash. This way you won’t twist your ankle.

Every skier should have ski pants. Ski pants keep the water out. If you fall you won’t get wet. Even from sitting on the chairlift you will get wet without ski pants. All ski pants are waterproof. Ski pants are made by many different companies and come in many different colors.

Boots are required to ski. Without boots you can’t lock into your skis. Boots are like shoes. They come in different sizes and color. There are Solomon, Rossignol, Nordica, Dalbello, and Lange boots. Nordica boots are the most popular.

Helmets are always a good thing to have. Even though you are not usually required to wear one you still should. Some resorts now require helmets. Helmets save many lives. They protect you if you fall but also from low branches, ice, and snow-making towers.

Most people have poles. Although poles are nice to have to help you push off of and turn beginners should not use them. They can stab you if you fall and can be a pain getting off the lift. I would recommend poles.

Gloves help you stay warm. Without gloves your hands will freeze. The best types of gloves are the gloves with gor-tex. Spyder is a big glove company along with Section and Solomon. There are more glove companies but those are the biggest. Gloves can also help you grip your poles. They help you on rope tows and lifts, too.
