Snowboarding was started by surfers and skateboarders that wanted to take their sport to snowy mountains. They started the idea of snowboarding but the boards they made didn't work out right. Some of the boards were too hard to control and some didn't go fast enough. Jake Burton is the guy that perfected the sport. The boards he made were made out of plastic and long so that they were easy to control. That is how the sport of snowboarding was invented.
