Elvis's mom was smothering
and overprotective. Glady Love Smith was his moms full name.
Vernon Elvis Presly came from a very poor family that is Elvis's dad.
He could not read or write and he spelled his name Virnon. When
Elvis was growing up he lived inj a shotgun house. Which is a
house that you could shoot a shotgun at and it would come out the
backside of it withought toutching anything. |

Elvis started singing as
young as third grade. He sang in a third grade assembly. He
aslo sang in the morning prayers in the Mississippi-Alabama fair and the
Dairy show. When Elvis grew up he sang a very popular song called
"Old Shep a real sad song about a boy and his dog. Elvis's mom
walked him to school everyday to make sure he was safe and didn't play
hookie. When he was older she stood on the other sise of the
street from time to time but he hid in the bushes. |

As Elvis got older his
voice got deeper and smoother. He always talked about how someday
he would become famous. Elvis spent most of his time working for
his father. He worked in a paint factory packing paint cans.
He also made money mowing lawns, cleaning gutters and other jobs. |

Elvis became a high-degree
black belt. Some degrees were "honorary" and some were "skipped".
He started in Germany. Then in L.A Elvis met a hair dresser Larry
Geller. He introduced Elvis to the world of new age spirituality.
Elvis told Geller how empty he always felt. |

Elvis met a girl named
Priscilla Beaulieu. Elvis and Priscilla had been engaged since
December 1966. People said there marriage was a public stunt but
it wasn't. The wedding went by very fast. There were no
phone calls or no written invitations. They flied to Palm Springs
for there honeymoon on Frank Sinatra's private jet. |

On friday 1, 1968 exactly
11 months after the wedding, Priscilla gave birth to a daughter.
Her name was Lisa Maria. Elvis was very delighted to have a clean
and very healthy baby. The baby was so healthy that they took her
home that night. The reporters were there and they said they
couldn't even explain how happy Elvis was. |
