Elvis's mom was smothering and overprotective.  Glady Love Smith was his moms full name.  Vernon Elvis Presly came from a very poor family that is Elvis's dad.  He could not read or write and he spelled his name Virnon.  When Elvis was growing up he lived inj a shotgun house.  Which is a house that you could shoot a shotgun at and it would come out the backside of it withought toutching anything.
Elvis started singing as young as third grade.  He sang in a third grade assembly.  He aslo sang in the morning prayers in the Mississippi-Alabama fair and the Dairy show.  When Elvis grew up he sang a very popular song called "Old Shep a real sad song about a boy and his dog.  Elvis's mom walked him to school everyday to make sure he was safe and didn't play hookie.  When he was older she stood on the other sise of the street from time to time but he hid in the bushes.
As Elvis got older his voice got deeper and smoother.  He always talked about how someday he would become famous.  Elvis spent most of his time working for his father.  He worked in a paint factory packing paint cans.  He also made money mowing lawns, cleaning gutters and other jobs.
Elvis became a high-degree black belt.  Some degrees were "honorary" and some were "skipped".  He started in Germany.  Then in L.A Elvis met a hair dresser Larry Geller.  He introduced Elvis to the world of new age spirituality.  Elvis told Geller how empty he always felt.
Elvis met a girl named Priscilla Beaulieu.  Elvis and Priscilla had been engaged since December 1966.  People said there marriage was a public stunt but it wasn't.  The wedding went by very fast.  There were no phone calls or no written invitations.  They flied to Palm Springs for there honeymoon on Frank Sinatra's private jet.
On friday 1, 1968 exactly 11 months after the wedding, Priscilla gave birth to a daughter.  Her name was Lisa Maria.  Elvis was very delighted to have a clean and very healthy baby.  The baby was so healthy that they took her home that night.  The reporters were there and they said they couldn't even explain how happy Elvis was.
