Dan Marino began his rookie season as a backup Quarterback. The starter for the Dolphins was Dave Woodley. Woodley did bad the first several games so Shula replaced him with Marino. When he began the season he won every game besides one. He won the Rookie of The Year Award. He also started the Pro Bowl that year.

| San Francisco controlled maters that day, crushing the Dolphins, 38-16. The Dolphins were under pressure from the start. Marino was sacked four times, and he threw two interceptions. But that's ok for Marino. He was only 23, so he figured that there will be many more Super Bowls. | ![]() |

Marino still continued to shine the next season. Each year he put up awesome statistics and registered a few more milestones. But still he didn't get his championship. In the regular-season game against the Browns in 1993, Marino suffered a devastating injury, rupturing his right Achilles tendon. |

| With each setback, Marino came back with more determination than ever so he can win the Super Bowl. In 1996, Jimmy Johnson, took over in Miami, replacing Shula. Marino liked the idea of working with a new coach. In the early meeting with Johnson, he told him he didn't care if he threw the ball 10 times a game, all that Marino wanted was a Super Bowl. |
