The fashion shows are a vital part in selling the designs. Although people look at fashion shows as simply walking down a runway, it isn’t. On the day of the show the models arrive and are rushed to hair and makeup. Each model has a number of outfits to practice getting in and out of in split second timing. Then they go out and represent their designer’s clothes to an audience packed with fashion photographers, international buyers and sellers, and competing designers.

Models also have to adapt to many things as well as different types of runways they may not be used to. One that is tricky for models is the conventional runway. The conventional runway is along platform stretching out into the audience, was reinvented by designer John Paul Gaultier. It has models rising up through the runway floor on circular platform, and that can be tricky when you are wearing four inch heels.

Models have to keep in shape and looking gorgeous. For many models, remaining fit and gorgeous comes easily. Some eat anything and don’t exercise, but always look perfect. Others have to put in countless hours at the gym. Stress plays a big part on keeping fit as well.

There are also famous people that do modeling. To model you don’t have to be a full time model. As you can see to the left is Carrie Underwood. For those of you that don’t know Carrie she is a country singer.

As I mentioned before models often work in the commercial or product selling part of their modeling industry. To the left you will see two young, beautiful girls with perfect skin. That is simply because they are doing an ad for a face cleanser.
