Alan Page started as a defensive tackle from 1964 to 1966. During his three seasons at Notre Dame the defense yielded an average of 6.3 points per game. He went to the NFL and made it to the pro-bowl nine strait times.

 

 

 

Chris Zorich was one of the fiercest competitors to play for Notre Dame. He played for Notre Dame from 1988-1990. As a junior he won the UPI College lineman of the year.

 

 

 

John Lattner played from 1951 - 1953.He won the heisman trophy in 1953. He has the school record for interceptions with 13.

 

 

 

Ross Browner played in 1973 then 1975- 1977. Ross Browner is the Irish career leader in tackles for loss. He finished fifth in the Heisman voting in 1977. He played in the NFL for the Bengal’s.

 

 

 

Joe Montana played in 1975 then 1977- 1978. He led the Irish to many comeback wins when all seemed lost. Joe Montana led the Irish to a National championship in 1977 then a Cotton bowl win in 1978. In the NFL he won four Super bowls for the 49ers.

 

 

 Tim Brown played for the Irish from 1984 to 1987. He was the heisman Trophy winner in 1987. During his two seasons under Lou Holts he caught 84 passes and averaged 21 yards   per catch. 

 

 

 

Raghib Ismail known as the rocket for his speed was one of the most exciting players ever to put on a Notre Dame uniform. He played from 1988 – 1990. He set the team record for yards per catch with 22 , and career kickoff returns with 6. He won the Walter Camp award in 1990.

 

 

Jerome Bettis played for Notre Dame from 1990 -1992. During his tenure at Notre Dame he rushed for 1,912 yards, scored 27 touchdowns, and averaged 5.7 yards per carry. In the NFL he became the fifth all time leading rusher.

 

 

Paul Hornung was arguably the greatest all around player ever to play. He played from 1954 - 1956 He won the Heisman trophy as a quarterback. He was an all pro running back in the NFL, set a season scoring record with 176 points as a kicker. Intercepted 1passes with Notre Dame, and was a top tackler.

 

 

 

Knute Rockne was Notre Dames head coach from 1918 – 1930. His life time winning percentage was .881. He Coached the Irish to three National championship seasons. He died after the 1930 season in a plane crash.  

 

 

  Coach Frank Leahy coached for Notre Dame from 1941 – 1943 then from 1946 to 1953. He had 7 undefeated seasons and won four national championships.
 

Ara Parseghian coached the Irish for 11 seasons. He won two national championships for Notre Dame including an upset win over top ranked Alabama in the Sugar bowl.
