Stunts are one of the main expectations of cheerleading. There are many different techniques of doing  stunts. Stunts can be split into two sections, partner stunts and mounts. Partner stunts often involve two people, and is one of the easiest stunts. Mounts, often called pyramids involve multiple people. The main positions in a mount are the backspot, who stands in the back, the two bases, who are on either side of the mount, and the flyer who is on top. It is optional to have a frontspot, they just help the flyer get up and down easier out of the mount.

A basket toss is a very common stunt in the competition world of cheerleading. It usually takes four to five people. The usual positions in a basket toss are the two bases, backspot, flyer, and optional frontspot. A basket toss has a special technique to it. The way the bases hold the flyer is most important. They make a  square with their hands.  Baskets are the most fun because it gives you extra height when you throw the flyer. It gives the flyer extra time to do extra flips and turns.

The most common stunt is the pyramid. It consists of many different people. It is usually the most attractive stunt. There are usually multiple stunt groups. These groups move tightly together so that they can easily put more flyers on top of the ones they are already holding. You can usually do any stunt or technique in a pyramid.

Another popular cheerleading stunt is the liberty, also called the one leg stunt, or scorpion. They each deal with balancing on one leg, and doing something else with the other leg. Both stunts are held by the two bases, and supported by the front and back spots. The one base holds the foot, and the other base supports it. It is a matter of good balance, and tecnique to get these difficult stunts down.
