The quarterback is probably the most important position on offense. Normally, the quarterback is the smartest and most athletic player on the team. Once he drops back, the quarterback has to focus on his receivers while huge defensive linemen are trying to tackle him. It is hard to do that and it is even harder to be great at it.

 

 

Dan Marino was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on September 15, 1961. In 1983, he was the first rookie quarterback ever to start in the Pro Bowl. In 1984, he had the greatest season ever by a quarterback. Dan Marino set 11 different records including the most passing yards +in a season with 5,084 yards.

 

 

John Elway was born on June 28, 1960, in Port Angeles, Washington. In 1983, he was the first selection of the NFL draft. He was drafted by the Baltimore Colts who traded him to the Denver Broncos. In 1993, he led the NFL in completions with 348. Also, in 1993, he led the league with a 63.2 completion percentage.

 

 
 

Joe Montana was born on June 11, 1956, in New Eagle, Pennsylvania. In 1977, he led Notre Dame to a Cotton Bowl victory and the number one national college football ranking. He was drafted in the third round, in 1979, by the San Francisco 49ers. Joe Montana won the Super Bowl MVP award in 1981. In 1984, he won his second Super Bowl. In 1988, he won his third Super Bowl. He won his fourth and final Super Bowl in 1989.

 

 

Troy Aikman was born in Cerritios, California, on November 21, 1966. In 1989, he was chosen number one overall in the NFL draft by the Dallas Cowboys. He won the Super Bowl and was named Super Bowl MVP in 1993. In 1994, Aikman won his second Super Bowl. He won his third and final Super Bowl in 1995.

 

 

Terry Bradshaw was born on September 2, 1948, in Shreveport, Louisiana. In 1966, he enrolled at Louisiana Tech University. Bradshaw was the first player selected in the draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers. In 1975 and 1976, he helped the Steelers win two Super Bowls. In 1979 and 1980, he won his last two Super Bowls. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1989.
