Dolphin want to knows

Dolphins, like bats, use echolocation to find food. Millions of years ago toothed whales developed echolocation. This sense enabled them to survive in murky and dark aquatic environments. Echolocation is when an organism makes sound that then would bounce off an object. After the sound bounced off the object it would make an echo so the organism could tell how far or close the object is. Dolphin echolocation is considered to be the most advanced sonar capability. With this capability it helps recognize prey that has burrowed up to one and a half feet into ocean or river bottoms.

Dolphins communicate with different sounds, whistles, squawks, and click trains. When vocalizing dolphins show no external signs. There are occasions that dolphins will emit bubbles with whistles. This usually is a sign of excitement. Sometimes the bubbles are supposed to make one dolphin appear stronger and bigger than the other.

Dolphins resemble fish but they are really mammals. About sixty million years ago dolphin ancestors lived on land. Soon after the dinosaurs dolphins went into the ocean. Over millions of years they evolved fins and flippers, which have the same bones we have have in our arms and hands. They also evolved a streamlined torpedo like shape. The hind legs were traded in for a single tail that propels the dolphin forward. When we inward we see that dolphins have a complexand dynamic system of blood vessels. This helps them to regulate their body temperature.

Dolphins usually caress and touch each other before mating. Female dolphins normally start to reproduce between the ages of six to ten. This may last into their late forties. Calves are born in late spring early summer, after a twelve month gestation. They are born tail first at the length of about forty-five inches. The birth of a calve can take forty-five minutes to several hours. After, the mother breaks the umbilical cord and the calve rises for its first breath. The mother will then nurse her calve for one to two years after birth. During the development of the calve there is not much male interaction.

Our view of dolphins is normally during play. They like to ride the waves and the "bow" of surging whales Some dolphins like to play pass the kelp. Sometimes do this by passing gently by mouth or by string it of the fluke or any body part . They also push around smaller fish to play and drag birds under just to let go.
