The Steelers

Before the seventies, the Steelers weren’t much of a team. Then they hired a new head coach. His name was Chuck Noll. After much draft picks and rigorous practice the Steelers finally were becoming a team worth mention. With these players and the new head coach this team went on to win four Superbowls. Because there was Hall of Fame players like Joe Greene, Jack Ham, Lynn Swann, John Stallworth, and many more this team had done it. They made Pittsburgh a city of Champions.

Chuck Noll is considered to be the key reason for the Steelers greatness. He rebuilt the team, he taught them, and most of all he had them win. He drafted many of the great players we know today. He also taught them how to be a team. Without Chuck Noll the Steelers wouldn’t have been nearly as great. He was a great coach and leader. After all he led the team to four Superbowl wins.

The first Superbowl, Superbowl IX, the team won is considered to be the greatest of them all. It wasn’t only because it was the first Superbowl, it was also because it was so hard to get there. In the playoff game against the Raiders there was 17 seconds and the Steelers were down. Jack Tatum, a Raider, ran the ball and fumbled. Then Franco Harris picked up the ball and was able to run it for a touchdown. The Steelers made then made it to the Superbowl. After that the Steelers faced the Vikings. They won and finally were able to take their first Superbowl title.

It was the year after the first Superbowl. Bradshaw finally awakened and helped lead the team by firing passes to Lynn Swann, John Stallworth, and Frank Lewis. Bradshaw did well with 2 touchdown passes that day. Lynn Swann also played extremely well. Because of him and Bradshaw they won 21-17. The Steelers had won number 2.

The Steelers wanted another win. It was three years after their last win. In Superbowl XIII the winner would be the first team everto win 3 Superbowls. Once again the opponent was Dallas. Like Franco 4 years earlier Bradshaw had the game of his life. He completed 17 of 31 passes allowing us to win 35-31. The Steelers had done it. They had won their third Superbowl against the Cowboys.

In 1779 the Steelers had received the division title and a playoff spot. The unstoppable team made their way to Superbowl 14. Against the Rams the Steelers wanted to make history once more. The game started and the Rams had a 19-17 lead. On a crucial third down play Bradshaw threw to Stallworth who scored a touchdown on a 78 yard play. Later they scored another one and had sealed their 35-17 win. The Steelers had won their 4th Superbowl and went down in history.
