The 1957 Ford Thunderbird. The 1957 Thunderbird model is slightly longer than 1955/56 models. The last 2 seater Thunderbird. It has distinguished tailfins flanking the lengthend trunk. It has a combined bumper/grille treatment that worked well. Retained from 1956 model was the optional bolt-on hardtop complete with glass “portholes” which was light enough for one-man operation.

| 1966 Mustang Shelby GT350. The Shelby GT350 was not a tractable road machine. It was more a racer. It takes skill to drive it to the limit. These cars were noisy, thirsty, uncompromising, and very, very quick. And may or may not have the relocated suspension that characterized the ultimate Cobras. | ![]() |

The 1967 Shelby GT 500 was very powerful the 408 Cid V8, was base on the police interceptor engine, delivered 355bhp. The big lock motors meant that the car was not as well balanced as the GT350, even though it was very fast in a straight line. This Mustang was the test bed for new ideas.

The 1969 Mustang Boss 302. It appear in 1969 and it was powered by an up rated version of the standard 302 Cid engine delivering 290bhp. 70bhp more than the standard. There were not fake scoops. The Matte black paint on the hood reduced glare and the rest of the matte black around the head lights help it look like a speed demon. It was one of the most functional looking Mustangs since the GT350, and the 302Cid engine meant it was well balanced and sweet handling. Boss 302 prices were relatively reasonable.

1970 Mustang Mach 1. This Mustang have a 335bhp engine even the unaerodynamic Mustang could be pushed along surprisingly rapidly. The shaker scoop that protruded from the hood, and shook with the engine, can clearly be seen from above. This style was borrowed from dragsters. The advantages of a concave rear taillight pane are disputable, they were hard to clean, and all but invisible when muddy. Although it is still a classic car.
