Ground zero is the place where the Twin Towers stood before the attacks of terrorism. As you know two of our own airliners were hijacked and flown into the two buildings. One collapsed level by level, like an elevator, and covered in ash and flying debris. Then the second Tower crumbled down like nothing 28 minutes after the first, covering citizens of the city in a second coat of the toxic ash and air. Today, after clean up and renewal, sits Ground Zero. Many people visit and remember loved ones that died that tragic day. They are currently rebuilding, but it will always be remembered as the place where the World Trade Centers towered over all. |

The Statue of Liberty is one of the most amazing statues in the US. Inside there are stairs where when you get to the top you can look down at the harbor below and the city beyond it. Her crown is actually a floor with glass to look outside. Lady liberty sits on a 12 acre island called Liberty Island. To give you an idea of the size of the Statue her index finger is 8 feet long, she herself is 151 feet and 2,225 tons with a 35 foot waist line. The interesting part is that the flaming torch signifies enlightenment, the 7 spikes on her crown symbolize the seven continents, and she holds a tablet of stone that represents the Declaration of Independence. The Statue of Liberty was given as a gift from the French. |
