Some large dogs are used for sports. Whippets, Siberian husky, and pointers are some of the dogs used for sports. Whippets are used for racing. Siberian Huskys are used for a dog sled race in Alaska. Pointers are very good hunters, they were used for hunting |

Dogs today are used to help the blind. The dogs have to be trained to stop at streets and help the person around. Usually Labrador retrievers are used to guide the people. Small dogs aren’t used to guide because they’re too small.

Muslims highly prized Salukis (type of large dog.) They love salukis for their beauty. Salukis are never sold. They are only given to friends as presents. The picture to the right is a Saluki.

Lots of owners like to enter their dogs in dog shows. One of the first dogs in a dog show was the Great Dane. That was in 1876. Dog shows are still very popular today. Another event that large dogs were used for was the circus. |
