David Beckham was born in England.  He has participated in many world cups including the latest one in 2006, but has not won any.  His first club team he ever played for was Manchester United.  After that he was then traded to Spains Primera Division on Real Madrid.  Today Beckham plays for the MLS on the Los Angeles Galaxy.  He is on a contract for $250 million for 5 years.  Beckham may play in the U.S., but he still is on England’s national team and he still remains their captain.

Ronaldinho was born in Brazil.  His full name is Ronaldo de Assis Moreira.  Ronaldinho means “Little Ronaldo.”  In 2001 Ronaldinho left his home town to play for Paris Saint-Germain in France.  Two years later he left his Paris team to play on F.C. Barcelona in Spains Primera Division.  In 2004 he was named FIFA World Player of the Year.  Ronaldinho plays on Brazil’s national team.  He participated with his team in the 2006 World Cup.  Today Ronaldinho plays for the club team Chelsea.

Andriy Shevchenko was born in Kiev, Ukraine.  His nickname that the fans shout is “Sheva.”  When he was nine years old a scout wanted him to train with his hometown team “Dynamo Kiev.”  In 1991, his team played in the UEFA Champions League tournament where he becam the first Ukraine player to ever score a hat-trick in one game.  Since 1999 Shevchenko has been playin in the Italian Serie A on A.C. Milan.  He also remains on Ukraine’s national team.

Fabio Cannavaro was born in Naples, Italy.  He was the first ever defender to win the FIFA World Player of the Year.  He played for the club teams of  Napoli, Parma, inter, and Juventus.  He won two league championships with Juventus.  Since 1997 he has been playing on Italy’s National Team.  He is currently the captian of the team.  In the 2006 World Cup he finished runner up for the Golden Ball behind Zinedine Zidane.  Today he currently plays in Spains Primera Division on Real Madrid.

The first picture on the left is Cristiano Ronaldo.  He was born in Madeira, Portugal.  Today he plays for the club team of Manchester United.  He also plays on Portugal’s national team and he participated in The 2006 World Cup.  The next picture is Thierry Henry.  He was born in Paris, France.  He was named Footballer of The Year in 2003.  Today he plays on France’s national team and in Spain’s Primera League on F.C Barcelona.
