When Ciccarone retired, the head coaching job was given to Don Zimmerman, a former Hopkins player and assistant coach. He led the Blue Jays to an undefeated 14-0 and a 13-10 NCAA Championship over Syracuse. Its defense was great, and star goalie Larry Quinn was the reason.

The 1985 team continued the winning ways with another throttling of the Orange 11-4. Junior Del Dressel scored 3 goals, and Greg Matthews won 12 of 18 face-offs. This team had 3 Hall of Famers: Larry Quinn, Del Dressel and John DeTommaso. |

| The 1987 team did not come into the season as favorites, partly because of Dressel and DeTommaso graduating. But with young stars like David Pietramala, the Blue Jays won it all again. It would be another 18 years before the Championship returned to Homewood Field. | ![]() |

In 1991, Tom Seaman became the coach of the Blue Jays. He took them to the quarterfinals. For the next few years, Hopkins had good teams, but no championships to show for it. The best player during this time was Terry Riordan. He still leads JHU in all time career points and goals. In 1995 they lost in the semifinals to the Terps of Maryland.

Tom Seaman left Hopkins in 1998 to coach at Towson. John Haus, a former Tar Heel, coached for the next two years. But bad performance led to the hiring of Hopkins assistant David Pietramala. |
| Pietramala is a very good coach for the Jays. During his first four years, he recruited stars like Kyle Harrison and Conor Ford. Both of them are starring in the MLL. In the 2005 Season He captured the first Hopkins championship during this century. | ![]() |

The 2007 Final Four was one of the most interesting. The teams that made it were as follows; Ivy League champion and undefeated Cornell, Delaware coming off an upset over Virginia, the inspired Duke Blue Devils whose 2006 season was ended when three players were charged with rape, and the Yankees of the Lacrosse world, Johns Hopkins.

The Jays beat the Blue Hens to advance to the title game. Later that day, Duke stunned Cornell, coming back to win off a Zack Greer goal with four seconds left. In the finals Hopkins held off Duke 12-11 to win the championship in front of 48,443 fans at M&T Bank Stadium. The 2008 team also looks good, ranked #2 in most preseason polls. The tradition of winning lacrosse at JHU won't stop anytime soon. |
