Winter Sports

Skiing is the original winter sport. The majority of people ski rather than snowboard in ski/snowboard resorts. While skiing you are facing forward rather than sideways. Skiing is more for speed and higher steeper slopes than for tricks. You will rarely find a skier at the terrain park going off of jumps and grinding on the grind rails and grind plates.
The equipment used for snowboarding is a helmet, gloves, coat, hat, goggles, poles (optional), and a pair of skis. Poles are an optional tool while skiing. For most people poles help them keep there balance and help them gain there speed quicker. For some skiers the poles just get in the way.

The pro skiers go to the Olympics and race down steep slopes between poles that they have to go threw to get points. They get special equipment that keeps you extra warm but are thin so they can go faster.
Skiing resorts have many fun slopes to ski down. The slopes are rated with a rating system that all mountain resorts use. There are green circles that are the easiest hills for beginners, there are blue squares that are for experienced skiers/snowboarders, And the last one is a black diamond for experts only. Very rarely but are double black diamonds but they are hard to find.
