          The most common form of permanent data storage is magnetic disks. They can store from a few hundred kilobytes to scores of gigabytes. They use a series of zero’s and one’s to store certain amounts of memory in each magnetic disk. But before any of that can happen the disk has to be formatted. What the formatting does is mainly create a road for it to follow to store data as well as find the data again after it is stored
 

          Also how disk drives store memory (3.5in floppy drive). What starts the process is pushing the floppy disk in. After that the floppy presses against a system of levers. They open the floppies shutter to expose the cookie (a thin Mylar disk coated on either side with a magnetic material similar to the coating on a cassette tape that can record data).

 
 

          Another one would be how disk drives increase speed and storage. How that happens would be one simple way is De fragmenting. De fragmenting a computer hard rive is relatively easy. What happens is that a program moves stored data closer together so it can open more space in your computer. In other words, moving the clutter out of the way for you
 

 

            Next how email and or chat rooms work. Well to start it off there is a program that does it for you. But the way the program works is whoever you’re talking to it sends a message to the website extremely fast. Next the message is sent across the web to the person whom you are talking to. It is simple to do but hard to comprise and make.

 
 

            Also how RAM preserves memory. Well this is relatively easy to explain.  RAM uses somewhat of the same format as a floppy drive. Except one thing that differs is that RAM is preserved in you computer while a floppy drive can be taken out and used on separate computers. But RAM is a certain kind of storage in a computer. It is a compressed type of storage used for certain programs.

 
 

            Now onto computer ports, well without computer ports there would not be any computers. A computer port is a certain type of connection that a type of cord is attached into the computer with. Like Internet connection on the back of your computer there is a computer port that u can connect Internet to. Also on the front of your computer where you attach your ipod to, well that is a computer port programmed to accept that type of software to charge it. Just as all the other ports do on your computer but they have different purposes.

 
 

            Also a PC card, how this would work has a few items to it. Well there are many kinds of PC cards. A PC card is an attachment to you computer that you can use to get like portable Internet connection. Extra storage and all sorts of different special attachments that can be used. It mainly consists of the same properties of a flash drive/floppy disk. So it uses the same format it just has different purposes.

 
 

 
 

            Lastly how notebook PC’s come together. Well first of all the storage and computer microprocessors are added into a sequence. Then the base of the computer, like the plastic outing and the screen. First they put in all the memory and processing programs the PC will come with like RAM and stuff like that. Lastly, the computer ports are added in and they connect to certain parts in the PC to work properly.
