The Statue of Liberty is a trademark for the United States. The great lady was constructed over 100 years ago. She is made of iron and cooper. You used to be able to go up in her crown or hand, but now it is closed for safety reasons. You can only visit the platform she stands on. The Statue of Liberty is the symbol of America and was a gift from France. |

September 11,2001 was a divesting time for everyone. What used to be the twin towers is now fallen to the ground. A high jacked plane crashed into one and then the second building causing many deaths and injuries. They were the tallest twin towers in the city and are now being built but, not to the same height. Ground zero is a very sad and quiet part of the busiest city due to what happened in 2001. |

Ellis Island was a place where immigrants came in from other countries to live in the United States. It was also a major destination for international cargo vessels that had come through. Ellis Island is now a museum that has many exhibits. Some are photos, clothing, and recordings of immigrants sharing their memories about coming to America. You can visit Ellis Island to this day and read about all the facts and see what is was like when people came into this country. |

Time Square is a popular place in New York City. There are a ton of people walking around so it is very crowded and busy. Most buildings that are used for live shows are in Time Square. There is shopping and eating places everywhere, so you can always find something to do. As you walk down the streets there are TVs hanging everywhere with different shows on. Every year people gather to watch the ball drop on New Years Eve. Time square always has something to see. |

Central Park is a huge park that is in Manhattan. There are athletic fields, gardens, and playgrounds throughout the park. The park stretches from 59th street to 10th street. It covers about 843 acres of land which is about 6 percent of Manhattan. Central Park is a beautiful place to see while visiting New York City. |

One of the city’s famous landmarks is the Empire State Building. The tower is about 1,050ft above the city’s busy streets. Tall and topped with a dome, it soars over a quarter mile into the sky. The 86th floor is the highest floor and you can over look the amazing city. The Empire State Building is a must see site when visiting the city. It gives you an over look of how big the city really is. |
