Broadway is the most famous street in the world of theater. People say, “ If you can make it to Broadway, you can make it anywhere”. Many theaters line Broadway street and it is the center of arts in New York City. Some of the most popular shows include the Lion King, Cats, The Wizard of Oz, Hairspray, and others. Broadway is the place to visit in New York City if you like seeing Broadway shows.

 

The David Letterman show is filmed at the Ed Sullivan Theater. This show is one of the most popular “late night” television shows besides Leno. Many Hollywood stars come on the show as quest. The show also has crazy audience participation challenges, like stump the band. David Letterman had hosted the show for over 25 years.

 

Yankee stadium is in Bronx, New York City and is the home for the New York Yankees. The Yankee’s have the highest pay roll in baseball. Famous Yankee players include, Babe Ruth, Yogi Brea, Roger Marris, and Derrick Jeter. The Yankees are rivals with the Red Sox. You almost always see a New York baseball team in the World Series. The stadium is sold out every game. It was built in 1923 and the new stadium will be opened in 2009. The new stadium will hold 47,000 people and will have the feature of a retractable roof. Going to a Yankees game is a great experience while visiting the city.

 

Madison Square Garden is the place to go if you enjoy watching sports or like music. It is a home to the New York Nicks, and hosts many basketball championships, boxing matches, and hockey games. Famous people have performed in Madison Square Garden including Frank Sinatra, Madonna, and Justin Timberlake. Howard Cosell, an announcer for ABC sports, was remembered for his play-by-play of title boxing matches. Madison Square Garden is a well known place to see entertainment.

   

The Rockettes are a well known dance company. They started out with 16 women and now have 36. They perform in the Columbus Day Parade and the Macy’s Day Parade on thanksgiving. The women practice and perform at Radio City Music Hall. The Rockettes are the best and most accurate performers.

 

The Macy Day Parade is the world’s largest Thanksgiving Day Parade. It has been going on for many years. The parade starts at central park and ends at 7th Ave. The parade is hosted by Macy’s department store. The parade is famous for its variety of different floats. High school bands, famous starts, and the Rockettes are also people that march in the parade.
