CHEERLEADING

A prep is the most basic stunt that there is. First the flyer gets into a ready position. Then, when ready, the two bases, front, and back spot will bring the flyer up off the ground. They will hold the flyer up at shoulder level and the flyer can hit a pose. When it’s time the bases will dismount the flyer onto the ground.

A Scorpion is a very complex stunt. First as in every stunt the flyer will get into a ready position. When the time comes the stunt group will get up into a full extension, which happens when the flyer stands fully above the bases head. After the flyer hits the full extension, she will turn her body to the side and grab her one leg and pull it over her head. The bases should have her feet, and the back spot should grab her calve. You can dismount almost any way you want.

A basket toss happens after a flyer hits a pose and is ready for a dismount. Instead of a normal dismount, the bases will bend there knees and push the flyer up high into the air. Then as she is coming down the bases will put there arms up in front of them in the air and catch the flyer.  The front and back spot will do the same except they will catch her legs and under her arms.

To be in a scale you have top be very strong and sharp. First, the stunt group will stand in a ready position. Next, they should push her up into what looks to be a full extension. Except, it won’t be a full extension because she will only be standing on one leg. Then the flyer will turn to one side and grab her unsupported leg. She’ll put it up to a ten degree angle, and her other arm will go into a high V.

An arabesque is named what it is because it looks like a ballet arabesque. The flyer’s bases’ will put her up almost to a full extension except only one foot will be supported, not two. The flyer will lift the unsupported leg behind her at a 90 degree angle. As she does that her arms will be in a “T” position. It is very important to lock her knees.

An awesome is very simple as long as there are strong bases. The stunt group should start in a ready position. When the time comes the bases should push the flyer up into a full extension. The bases should then bring her feet close together. This makes it harder for the flyer to keep her balance in the air. The awesome is also called a Cupid.
