CHEERLEADING

A pike is a simple jump that in order for it to look nice you must be flexible. Start with your feet and your legs together. Then jump in to the air putting your feet out in front of you.  At the sane time, throw your arms out in front of you trying to touch your toes. The goal is to be high in the air and your body to be flat together.

A toe touch is a simple jump that can take a lot of practice to look good.  Start with your feet and arms together, bring your arms up into a high “V” in the AIR. Cross your arms over you r body and as you do that start to jump into the air. Then, pull your legs to the side as if you were doing a split in the air. Next extend your arm s in the air.

A herkie is a jump that you will do a lot in cheerleading. First, start with your hands and feet together. Jump up into the air with your left leg out for a left herkie, or your right leg out for a right herkie. then , bend your back leg to look like a triangle. next, place your one hand on your hip and your other hand out in front of  you in a fist.
A back tuck is a hard flip to learn off the floor. First, spring off the floor using your leg muscles .Flip your self backward and once you begin to rotate in the air bend your legs and in toward your chest. Next slightly tuck your chin in so your head isn't sticking out. Your arms should grab your legs. Once you begin to see the ground un-tuck your legs but keep them bent a little bit to absorb the landing.
A backhand spring is a little easier to do than a back tuck. First start with your hands up by your head. Then swing them down and throw them back as you jump back into the air. keep your legs straight and have your hands touch the ground. As soon as they touch the ground push off of the ground and have your feet pop over your head.
A layout is a very hard flip, but is a lot like a back tuck. First, jump down high and back in to the air as if doing a back tuck. But, as you begin to rotate leave your body straight, or flat in the air. that should be how the flip looks. Then as you begin to see the ground slightly bend your leg to a stick landing.
