Bows

These Bows, though small can be deceiving. These bows are called short bows (go figure). They were used by early Arabians (left) for war and hunting.
Long bows were originally made by early African natives. They would use long spear like arrows (left) but then the French adopted this bow in the 1470's.
The composite bow is probably the simplest bow there is, next to the reflex bow, that is. The only things that are different between the two are the shape, design, pull length, and the pull weight.
Reflex bows are used mainly by field archers (right). PA has  actually set aside for the development of Archery.
The cross bow is probably the most powerful bow there ever was and is. In he ancient world, soldiers used them to fire long and heavy arrows at the enemy. This was very sufficient however, it took a while to load and reload it after firing so many solders carried one. Unfortunately, I do not have a picture of one. My apologies!

The bow is made of many different parts. there is a small peg on the side that you put your arrow on. this is called the arrow rest (imagine that!). Without this, it would be extremely difficult to shoot, let alone hit your target. There is another part, just above the arrow rest. This is called the eye hole. It makes aiming easier but it is not essential to shoot. Just below the arrow rest is the handle. The large, main part of wood/plastic is called the backing . The long string is called the bow string, but if you didn't know that, then you have no idea what a bow is or you need mental help (no offense!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!).
