Anthony Kiedis

Anthony Kiedis was born on November 1, 1962 in Grand Rapids, Michigan.  His parents divorced when he was three.  He later moved to Los Angeles when he was eleven.  He met future band mates, Flea, Hillel Slovak, and Jack Irons, while attending Fairfax High School.  He attended UCLA but dropped out partially due to drugs.  He later admitted that his father influenced his addiction to heroin.

John Frusciante

John Frusciante was born on March 5, 1970 in New York.  He became interested in rock music at an early age.  When he was seven his parents divorced and he moved to California.  When he was nine he got his first acoustic guitar and taught himself to play it.  John first met the Red Hot Chili Peppers at a concert.  After Hillel Slovak died and Jack Irons quit John gladly joined the band.  John later became uncomfortable with the band’s success and quit in 1992.  While not in the band he became addicted to drugs such as heroin and cocaine.  In 1999 he completed rehab and Flea convinced him to rejoin the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

 

      

 

 

 

        

Flea

Michael Balzary was born on October 16, 1962 in Australia.  When his parents divorced he moved to Los Angeles.  He liked jazz music.  His fist instrument was the trumpet.  Influenced by his friends, Hillel Slovak and Jack Irons, he became interested in funk music.  In 1977 he met Anthony Kiedis.  In 1979 he started to play bass and in 1984 he joined the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

 

 

 

Chad Smith

Chad Smith was born on October 25, 1961 in St. Paul, Minnesota.  He started playing drums at a very young age.  When he was 20 he moved to California.  Following the departure of DH Peligro, he auditioned for the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
