Red Hot Chili Peppers – 1984

 

The Red Hot Chili Peppers’ self-titled debut album was released in 1984.  It was produced by Andy Gill.  This album was considered to be a failure.  It sold less than 400,000 copies worldwide.  Some of the tracks on it are “True Men Don’t Kill Coyotes” and “Get Up and Jump.”

 

 

 

 

Blood Sugar – 1991

 

Blood Sugar Sex Magik is The Red Hot Chili Peppers’ fifth studio album.  It was released in 1991.  This album was produced by Rick Rubin.  This album contained a noticeable heaviness in the guitars like heavy metal compared to the band's previous albums.  It also contained reference to sexual themes, drugs, and death.  The album sold over 7 million copies in the U.S. alone.  Some of the tracks on it are "Give It Away," "Under The Bridge," "Suck My Kiss," and "Breaking The Girl."  During the Blood Sugar tour John Frusciante left the band.        

 

 

  Californication - 1999

The Red Hot Chili Peppers' seventh album, Californication, was released in 1999.  It was produced by Rick Rubin.  This album marked the return of John Frusciante.  Californication is the band's most successful album ever.  It sold over 15 million copies worldwide.  It also peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard 200.  It includes tracks such as "Around The World," "Otherside," "Californication," and grammy award winning "Scar Tissue."

 

 

 

  By The Way - 2002

By The Way was released in 2002.  It is the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ eighth album.  It sold over 282,000 copies in the first week and peaked at No. 2 on the billboard 200.  John Frusciante was credited with writing the album’s melodies, bass lines, and guitar progressions.  Anthony Kiedis took a more reflective approach to his lyrics.  Some of the songs are “By The Way,” "The Zephyr Son," "Can’t Stop,” “Dosed,” and “Universally Speaking.”

 

   

Greatest Hits - 2003

The Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Greatest Hits album was released in 2003 by Warner Bros. Records.  The Red Hot Chili Peppers made 14 new songs for this album, but only two were used.  They are “Fortune Faded” and “Save the Population.”

 

 

   

Stadium Arcadium - 2006

Stadium Arcadium is the band’s ninth studio album.  It was released in May 2006 on Warner Bros. Records.  This album sold 442,000 copies in the first week and reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200.  Some songs from the album are “Dani California,” “Snow ((Hey Oh)),” and “Tell Me Baby.”  This was the band’s first double album.  It was originally going to be a trilogy of albums released six months apart.  This album showcases more mature lyrics and gained the band seven grammy nominations in 2007.
