Pomeranians

Most Pomeranians are very energetic, intelligent, and very loyal to their owners.  This breed of dogs can also be known as bold and temperamental.   Pomeranians can also be nippy around too much activity.  They are also commonly known as “lap dogs”.

History

Pomeranians originated in Prussia from ancient Spitz dogs.  They were brought to Europe to herd sheep, but they quickly were in the houses of the rich and famous.  Some people who made Pomeranians more famous were Marie Antoinette, Emile Zola, and Queen Victoria , who were Pomeranian owners in the late 19^th century.   

Sizes and Colors

Pomeranians are most known for their small size.  Their sizes do vary, but most Pomeranians weigh about 3-7 pounds and are around 12 inches tall.  Pomeranians usually come in solid colors with red being the most common.  Some other colors that a Pomeranians can be are orange, white, cream, blue, brown, or black.

Fun For Pomeranians

Pomeranians loved to be brushed and to sit on your lap.  They also love to play tug-a-war and chase small toys.  Another fun thing for a Pomeranian is to go on long walks and to travel to different places. Although Pomeranians are mostly considered as lap dogs some of them may even like to swim. 

Grooming Pomeranians

Pomeranians do need to be groomed a lot because they have long fur and they can get knots very easily.  They need to be brushed and bathed often, so that they don’t get any knots.

Feeding and Exercise

Pomeranians are very picky eaters, but still need a lot of dry food because they are prone to early tooth loss and the dry dog food can help to keep their teeth in a good condition.    You also have to make sure that Pomeranians eat enough and exercise a lot because they if they don’t eat enough they can get very sick and if they don’t exercise enough they will become overweight.
