The runway sounds like an easy task. It is not. A runway for modeling is a walk way where they must walk posing with the clothes. They show off clothing and accessories to whom ever may be there. Such as photographers, agencies, fashion designers, and even people looking for people looking for a model to walk down their runway. Models may look good outside on the runway but behind the runway it is hectic.

The runway is no easy business especially behind the runway curtain. On the runway models look calm and flawless. They are showing off an article to articles on the runway. Behind the curtain is madness. Everyone is running around needing or doing something. Throwing clothes on and off. Men and woman are complaining to get their make-up done or not able to find their shoes or outfits.

Men and woman walk in order that the fashion designer directs them too. In the beginning the outfits may be normal, fashionable runway outfits but near the end they could be crazed or wild. They are expected to walk and pose according to the clothes. Whether they have to dance, walk slowly, walk fast, or strut. Some models have to carry huge items. In the Victoria’s Secret fashion show some girls must have huge wings on their backs, making it difficult to walk in.

The runway can have all types of different turns, hills, and curves. Some have runways that they must turn making it perfect then cross over to another part of the runway without running into the person behind them. Then right after the walk he/she must run into a dressing room change their outfits then walk right back onto the stage. Some have to change their makeup. And sometimes a makeup artist is not there so the runway model must put the makeup on themselves.

Runways can be fun or painful. Though if the model is popular enough they can make over hundreds of thousands of dollars by simply walking a thirty minute show. Models are photographed, and written about. This is for agencies or other fashion designers who would like this model to walk their runway. A runway model is basically a show of tool for a fashions designer’s clothing. Though to a model means a lot more then that. A runway is never as easy as it looks.
