For cooking you need many tools. The most common things that you will need for preparing food is a set of measuring cups, a set of measuring spoons, knives, and a cutting board. You will also most likely need mixing bowls. |

Cleaning up is really easy. There are only 4 main tools that you will need. They are paper towels, a sponge, kitchen towels, and soap. |

Measuring can be a little scary because you think, “Well what if I add too much?”, or visa-versa. Well here are some helpful hints to help you out. |

1) To measure dry ingredients- Fill the right-sized measuring cup until it over flows. Then hold the cup over the container and use a strait-edged knife to push of the extra. 2) To measure liquids in a cup- set the measuring cup on a flat surface. Pour in liquid until full or to the desired mark. 3) To measure liquids in a spoon- Pour in liquid into right-sized measuring spoon until full. 4) To measure dry ingredients- Fill the right-sized measuring cup until it over flows. Then hold the cup over the container and use a strait-edged knife to push of the extra. |

Dill: The name dill comes from the Norwegian word “dilla” meaning “to lull”. For hundreds of years dill was used to soothe or heal. It was said that it helped to cure an upset stomach and hiccups. Long ago soldiers placed burned dill seeds on wounds to help them heal. In the twelfth century, people used dill in loves potions and to cast spells. At the time, a person often carried a bag of dill over their hearts to keep away evil. Dill is an herb. |

Pepper: Pepper was used first for some 4000 years ago in India. It is probably the oldest know spice, and was the most valuable. Pepper was carried westward by traders who often used as a substitute for money. A single peppercorn was often valued like a jewel. Taxes and rents were often paid with pepper. Pepper is a spice. |
| Garlic: Garlic appears in Greek mythology as a means to ward off evil sprits. Physicians of ancient Greece prescribed it for treating wound and cleaning the blood. Romans fed garlic to their athletes to give them strength and courage. Some even say that in high mountain regions where the air is thin, cloves of garlic placed in the nose will help bring enough oxygen into the body. Garlic is an herb.Parsley: This herb is said to be a symbol of joy, festivity, and honor. Greeks crowned heroes with it. Romans not only ate it, but decorated their dining hall with it. They believed it sweetened the breath. Some still do. |
