Dally (Matt Dillon)-he is 17yrs old and used to date a girl named Sylvia who is a greaser who cheats on him.  He also act's like he doesn’t care about any thing but himself but he secretly he cares for Johnny. Dally’s eyes are cold and hard almost like Darry's. Dallas Winston is also friends with Tim who is leader of the shepherd gang.

Darryl Curtis (Patrick Swayze)-he is 20 yrs old and works two jobs. He is the oldest of the Curtis bunch and is rough with ponyboy. He also makes sure that pony and soda don’t get in trouble because they might get put in a boys home.  The gang refers to him as Darry and is leader of the group. He also has muscles the size of baseballs.

Sodapop Curtis (Rob Lowe)-is 16 going on 17 and works full time at a gas station because he’s good with cars. He is known for his good looks and hair on the street. Soda has a girl named Sandy who has china blue eyes and has natural blond hair. He also is the middle child of the Curtis bunch. He tells Darry to back off when is being mean to Ponyboy

Ponyboy Curtis (C.Thomas Howell)-he is 14 yrs old and is the youngest Curtis brother. He is also attending high school because of being so smart. Ponyboy also sometimes hangs with Dallas Winston and loves to go to movies, and to read. His buddy Johnny is which of whom he can talk with in his mind. Ponyboy has light-brown hair and his eyes are green.

Steve Randle (Tom cruise) - Steve is age 17 and works part time at the same gas station Soda does. He also has a girlfriend named Evie and is soda best buddy since grade school. Steve also thinks that some times Ponyboy is a kid because pony likes to tag along with him and soda. He loves to fight in rumbles and is an only child.

Johnny Cade (Ralph Macchio) – Johnny is 16 yrs old he has tan and has heavily greased hair. He was almost totally hurt by the socs because of walking lonesome. Johnny has been buddies with Ponyboy for a long time. Also that he is like the gangs pet and the youngest besides pony. He also has a very poor home life because his parents always fight and he would sometimes get beat up by the old man (a.k.a his dad).
