The Harz Mountains, otherwise known as The Heart of Germany, cover an area of 2,000 square miles.  They are the site of many popular year-round resorts. Beautiful valleys, like picture to the left, are very common.  In the winter, the mountains become a true winter wonderland, showering nearby buildings in a blanket of pure white snow.

Rhineland Romanesque architecture is seen in many various tourist attractions.  The Speyer Cathedral and St. Peter’s Cathedral are both exhibits of this beautiful style. Many Christian tourists flock to these legendary cathedrals to take in their religious importance, as well as their great beauty.

The castle at Neuschwanstein sits atop a wooded hill, and seems to be simply out of a fairytale.  Well, instead of being from a fairy tale, the original design was thought up by a theatrical director who wanted the inside and the outside appearance to be magnificent and dreamlike.  The Lindenhof is a very popular tourist attraction as well.  It boasts a beautiful fountain geyser as well as a copy of the Blue Grotto in Capri.

The mountain resort of Fussen is extremely popular especially with couples.  It has a bridge over the River Lech and the beautiful man-made Lech Falls.  This romantic site and crystal waters is a draw for tourists of all ages. Downstream, a man-made reservoir is in the midst of the beautiful countryside and is one of many lakes.
