Popular European Travel Destinations

 

 

 

  Paris is the most popular tourist attraction in all of France. Paris boasts the Eiffel Tower, built in 1889 and the Arc de Triomphe, built by Napoleon to commemorate all the battles he had one. The tomb of the Unknown Soldier also lies underneath the arch.
 

Versailles and the Cathedral of Notre Dame are also very popular places of interest. 3 million people visit each year and the Bassin de Neptune is the piece de résistance.  Notre Dame is the largest church in France and fascinates many by its 13th century gothic architecture.

 

Rouen is an important commercial city in France for both its tanker port and its culture.  It is the site of popular museums, like the Musse de Beaux-Arts. This city also prides itself on The Cathedral of Notre Dame (See above), the Palais de Justice, and the Hotel do Bourtherould.  In this city, a cross remains at the place where Joan of Arc was burned at the stake.  The cathedral at Lisiex is an important site for some Christians from around the world.  Each year, the cathedral at Lisiex is home to the great pilgrimage in honor of the Ste-Therese de l-enfant Jesus
 

One of the most visited places in all of France is the Mont-Saint-Michel. Religious buildings built on this rock in the 18th century commemorate the rocks namesake saint.  The abbey has been labeled a must see for all visitors. This breath-taking abbey has recently been inhabited by a small group of monks and nuns. Caster Muer is one of the few places to catch a glimpse of the original wild coastline of Brittany.          

 

France has beautiful coastlines filled with picturesque landscapes. The waves of the sea attack the coast beside them, creating perfect spots for romantic getaways and exploratory adventures.  These rugged landscapes create perfect pictures and photographers flock from around the world to capture the natural beauty that is the coastline of France.
 

Châteaux’s are found throughout France and vary in size. Most, however, are magnificently crafted with expensive materials and castle-like features.  Many châteaux’s were given as gifts from the royal family.  They are all similar in architecture and most are built near water. These palaces are often mistaken for castles but they are unique t the French culture.
