The sport of figure skating began hundreds of years ago in Northern Europe. It started to become popular in the 1600s. Figure Skating got its name from the figures and patterns skaters make on the ice. In figure skating, you perform programs and compete. This sport is a very unique sport that not a whole lot of people do.
