The first stroke is butterfly. It is one of the hardest strokes. Butterfly requires a lot of strength and endurance. Your arms push through the water and go past your head while your feet do quick fly kick.

The second stroke is backstroke. It consists of moving your arms backwards while laying on top of the water. Your feet do fast flutter kick. During a backstroke race it is very important that you have an awesome start.

The third stroke is breaststroke. When doing breaststroke you need tight kicks and quick snaps. You also need fast arms and long pullouts. The arms should be shooting in front of you and pulling you forward. It almost looks like you’re a frog.

The last stroke is freestyle. The stroke consists of strong arms that pull you forward and VERY FAST flutter kick. In freestyle the head position is crucial because it could change your full body position.
