If you want to skateboard theres some basic equipment that you either need or want to have.  you will need a deck, bearings, trucks, shoes, griptape, wheels, and hardware.  you might want to have a helmet and pads.

Decks

Skateboard decks are probably one of the most important parts.  The deck is usually made out of five ply or seven ply.  You either get a blank or a graphic deck. There are a lot of companies that make skateboard decks, such as; enjoi, element,  girl, birdhouse, and more.

Trucks

In order to have a complete board one of the main parts you will need are the trucks.  Trucks consist of bushings, a kingpin, and the metal halves.

Bearings

Bearings are the round peices that you fit insidre of the wheels.  Bearings are rated in ABEC's. Bearings range from ABEC 1 to ABEC 11.  ABEC is how fast the bearings are.

Grip Tape

Grip tape is what is put on the top of the deck. Grip tape comes in different colors too. Grip tape helps give you control over the board and helps keep your feet in place.

Wheels

Wheels For skateboards are usually made out of urathane or plastic.  Bearings go in the wheels and then the wheels go on the trucks.  You can get blank or graphic wheels.

Hard Ware

Hardware is the nuts and bolts that hold the trucks on.
