The 1954 Jaguar XK140 replaced the successful Jag SK120 that appeared in 1948.  The creator of this car wuaras William Lyons.  It can travel at speeds up to 120 miles per hour.  The XK140 had a 190 horsepower engine and more interior than previous models.  The XK140 was produced through 1957.

 

 

 

 

 

The 1975 Jaguar XJS replaced the E-type Jaguar model.  The XJS was initially only a 2 door coupe and had a fuel injected V12 engine.  During the fuel crisis of the 1970’s the V12 engine was replaced with a 3.6 straight six version to make it more full efficient.  The XJS was produced until 1996.

 

 

 

 

The 1962 Daimler 250 was manufactured in Coventry, England.  This model had a hemispherical head V8 engine.  It could reach speeds of 125 miles per hour.  The major flaw of this model was the tendency for the doors to fly open when driven on rough roads. 

 

 

The 1954 Kaiser Darrin was powered by a 90 horsepower 161 cubic inch six cylinder engine.  The style of this car was created by Howard Darrin.  An unusual feature for the time period was the fiberglass body.  1954 was the only year of production for this car and only 435 (plus prototypes) were made.

The 1955 Corvette was produced with a completely new V8 engine which is known as the small block.  It was considered a milestone in car engines.  The engine had a compact design, overhead valves, and low cost production.  Only 700 Corvettes were produced in 1955.  Seven of these did not contain the new small block engine, instead came with a six cylinder engine.

 

 

The 1956 Ferrari 410 Superamerica was created by Pinin Farina.  The 410 came with side vents behind the front wheels becoming the signature of the Superamerica series.  The 410 had a single-overhead-cam 12 cylinder engine.  This car could reach speeds of 220-260 miles per hour.  It could go from 0 to 60 miles per hour in under six seconds.  Only 38 cars of this model were produced from 1956 to 1959.
