Woodloch Pines

First, we’ll explore the Scavenger Hunt. This contest is very popular in the resort. Like any other scavenger hunt, you are given a list of items to collect (which you can find in your luggage, the gift shops, or in nature). You also have puzzles to fill out (for example, match a CD cover to the artist and the album’s name), people to dress up (usually, a boy as a girl thing and a girl as a boy thing) and then, the 100 point bonus. You are given directions to follow around the resort to find the bonus and there are also traps. And you only have 60 minutes to do all this. The top three teams are awarded 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place medals at the end.
Next is Double Dare. This is a messy event, so people are asked to wear bathing suits, particularly old ones. You pick your team and you play in about 6-8 different wacky, crazy, wild, and downright messy events and the events change each year. It’s a lot of fun and top three teams are awarded 1st, 2nd, 3rd place medals at the end.

Then, we have the Olympics. This is a number of physical challenge-like games. The social staff creates the games. For example, they would combine hockey and football to make “fooky”. The games are a lot of fun and the top three teams are awarded 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place medals at the end.

The Water Olympics are a series of wacky water events. It varies from water bingo to “who can make the biggest splash?” Teams compete and the top three teams are awarded 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place medals at the end.

Woodloch also has their own version of “Name that Tune”. They play song clips from the 50’s, 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, 90’s, and today, with other various challenges thrown in as well. For example, you’ll hear a song clip and have to name the album the song was on. And, as always, top teams are awarded 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place medals at the end.

Woodloch also has a variety of other smaller activities. Here are just a few. One is the mini-golf contest. Woodloch has a lakefront mini-golf course which has 18 holes. You choose a partner, and the pairs with the lowest scores receive medals. There is also the waterslide contest-who can go the farthest? First, anyone who chooses to participate, goes down the slide, into the lake, trying to go as far as possible. You get two tries to qualify and those who qualify pick a water name and are separated into age divisions. Top three from each division are awarded medals at the end. There are many other small activities to do at Woodloch.
