Charles Henry Noll was born on January 5, 1932 in Cleveland, Ohio.  He went at Dayton University in Ohio.  He was drafted into the NFL 1953.  He was the 20th round pick by the Cleveland Browns.

 

  Chuck Noll’s career as a professional football player started when he was 21 years old playing for the Cleveland Browns and played there for six years.  In 1960 his coaching career started as a defensive assistant for the Los Angeles Chargers.  One year later he became another defensive assistant for the San Diego Chargers.  In 1966 he became a defensive backfield coach for the Baltimore Colts.
  In 1969, at the age of 37, Chuck Noll became the Pittsburgh Steelers head coach, which is the role he is best known for in his career.  From then on it was uphill as he had a record of 209 wins, 156 losses, and 1 tie.  He coached 4 Super Bowl Steeler teams and won every one of them.  The years were 1974 in Super Bowl 9, 1975 in Super Bowl 10, 1978 in Super Bowl 13, and 1979 in Super Bowl 14.
 

Chuck Noll is a very respected coach because of the many accomplishment he has made in his coaching career.  In 1972 he received the AFC Head Coach of the Year award and in 1989 he was named the NFL Head Coach of the Year.  He had a great decade from 1970 to 1980 as he received the honors of having his team named the 1970s All-Decade Team.   He remembered most for the four Super Bowl wins as the Steelers Head Coach.
