Rock N’ Roll was born in the 1950’s but in the 1960’s it became a favorite of everybody. The Beatles came in the 1960’s from Liverpool, England and shaped Rock N’ Roll. They were the favorite band of teenagers all around the world, and then Beatlemania arose.

The Beatles

The Beatles originated in Liverpool, England and all the band members, John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr (Richard Starkey), were all born and raised there. But in 1964, The Beatles arrived in America, a fresh faced new band. Every girl loved them and every guy wanted to be them. They were the heartthrobs of America.

The buzz about The Beatles began after they got their 1st number #1 song, “Please Please Me.” They then later traveled from Great Britain to Scotland to do concerts. Once they got back, they finished their first record in 12 hours, also named “Please Please Me.” It then became the best selling record in Great Britain. This started Beatlemania and soon it traveled to the U. S. of A.

When The Beatles came to America, they were an instant hit! My Grandma, who is now 63, remembers how big they were and even had memorabilia. After their first number 1 hit got to America, they were loved even more!!!  The Beatles released a handful of other number one hits in America and believe it or not they were bigger than Elvis Presley. I think that The Beatles became bigger that Elvis and there might have been some type of feud between them.

While The Beatles were here in America, they made a handful of movies. The picture to the right is a spoof version of “Midsummer Night’s Dream.” One of the movies they did make was Help. “Help”, is the name of an album and a song. Most of the movies The Beatles made were named after their albums or a song on a particular album. I have seen a few of them and I really liked Help but now it’s really rare and a lot of people haven’t seen it before, even the biggest Beatles fans.

This picture to the right is The Beatles meeting with the producer of “A Hard Day’s Night”, Walter Shenson. A Hard Day’s Night is also the name of a song and album just like most of their movies. Some other motion pictures that The Beatles have made are Yellow Submarine, Help, and Ticket to Ride.

When The Beatles weren’t making movies or having a concert, they were on TV shows. In this picture they were on The Ed Sullivan Show. They played a few songs like Can’t Buy Me Love, their number on hit Please Please Me, and Help.
