Andre Agassi is former World No. 1 professional tennis player and turned pro in 1986. In the beginning of his career, Andre came across as a punk kid who thought image was everything. He then settled down and focused on the game itself. By the time he ended his career last year at the U.S. Open, he had won eight Grand Slam finals, one of five men to win all four. Andre also won an Olympic gold and seventeen ATP Masters Series, most of any other tennis player.

Maria Sharapova was born in 1987. When Sharapova was seven her father, Yuri Sharapova, brought her to the U.S. from Russia,to train at the Nick Bollettieri Tennis Academy in Florida.

 

 

 

Sharapova has won Wimbledon once and the U.S. Open in 2006. Sharapova has fifteen career tournament wins and has earned over 9 million dollars in her professional career.

 

 

James Blake was born December 28, 1979 in New York. He is the top ranked U.S. player and ranked No. 4 in the world and turned pro in 1999. Blake is known for his speed and power forehand. He has nine career tournament wins which took place on hard court. Off court Blake enjoys basketball, baseball, and golf. He is also a big fan of the Mets.

   
     

Amélie Mauresmo was born July of 1979. She is former No. I French tennis player but is currently No. 3 in the world. Mauresmo has a strong, one-handed backhand and is a dominate force at the net. She has two Grand Slams, both Wimbledon and the Australian Open in 2006. Mauresmo also made France’s Olympic tennis team in 2000 and 2004 and has career earnings of over 13 million dollars.

 

Rafael Nadal is a left-handed professional tennis player from Spain. Nadal is No. 2 in the world and has a nickname of Rafa. Nadal has a clay court winning streak of sixty-two matches, which is the longest among the male tennis players of the open era. He

 
 

has won the French Open twice in a row, which is a Grand Slam event played on clay. Nadal was member of Spain’s Davis Cup team in 2004, which went on to defeat the U.S. team in the finals. Nadal’s career earnings are around $8,300,000.

 
    Justine Henin-Hardenne is currently No. 2 World ranked female tennis player. Henin-Hardenne’s mental toughness and her extraordinary one-handed backhand, which has been called one of the best backhands in the history of tennis, is why she is standing among
    the best in professional tennis. She has won five Grand Slams and one gold metal in singles at the 2004 Summer Olympics. Henin-Hardenne has earned a total of thirty-one tournament titles throughout her career and has a career earnings of 13 and a half million dollars.
