  Micelle Kwan:
Michelle started skating when she was 5 years old with her sister.Her and her sister. As soon as they got on the ice they fell.But after that they became great at what they did. In no time Michelle and her sister got coaches  and were paying 300$ a year for ice time skates and outfits. She one her first competition. The same year she was  competeting was the same year as the Olympics. Competeting  for America was Tonya and Nancy days before the Olympics a Tonya Hardings fan attacked Nancy. That's when Michelle got her chance to win the Olympics.
 
 
  Tara Lipinski:
Tara learned how to roller skate at the age of 3. At the age of five she one a roller skating competition. Tara was a very competitive person. When she was six she took figure skating lessons because "she had nothing better to do". 5 years later was her first competition, she took home the gold.
 
 

Kristi Yamaguci:
A foot problem started Kristi's journey to the Olympics. At 6 years old is when she began skating.In 1989 she took a gold in pairs and a silver in singles.She was the first women in 30 years to ever get two medals.That year she decided to end her career as a pair skater. Her first year to the Olympics and she went home with the gold.
 
Dorothy Hamill:
Nancy started skating when she was 8 years old. She started competing  at 10.Two years later she became the Junior Novice woman. Dorothy was an amazing skater. The night of a competition she fell and got a concussion  that aloud her not to skate that night.
 
Nancy Kerrigan:
As years went by Kerrigan became a great skater. She was the first woman to ever combine triple jumps.A coupe years later were the Olympics and she was there and she was favored to win. Days before the Olympics she got attacked by Tonya Hardings husband. She was injured so bad she could  not go to the Olympics either could Tonya.
 
Debi Thomas:
Debi was the first African American skater.She started skating after she saw an ice show with her mom.Her mom could only afford used skates that were to small.So when they broke she fixed them with glue. When she was 10 she got a coach.When she was older she became a doctor so she had to go to college. She became the first skater in 30 years to skate and go to college.
  Linda Fratianne:
Before Linda would compete she pinned her 5 lucky charms to her dress. People said Linda was born to skate. When she was 14 she was the first woman ever to do a triple jump in a competition. She won her first competition and that lead her to believe that she would win the rest. She was wrong in the 1976 Olympics she took 8th place she said "I didn't do my best".
 
Teneley Albright:
Teneley was diagnosed with polio when she was a kid she was in the hospital for months. When she recovered  she achieved her dream as a skater. She told her parents she wanted to compete but they didn't think she was serious until she started leaving school early to go to practice and competitions. Since she didn't have time after school to skate she skated from 4 Am till 6 Am.

Peggy Fleming:
Peggy started skating because her mom thought it was a sport she could do with out getting hurt. She had only been skating for a year when she won her first competition. For the next couple of months she one her competitions.Then at the Olympics she took 6th place.

 
 Carol Heiss:
Carol started skating when she was 4 years old. Immediately her skating teacher urged her parents to get her a coch. They didn't have the money so her dad took a second job. She went to the Olympics that year in Switzerland and took 2nd place.
