Jumps are a very big part of cheerleading. They give routines a big boost for points. They show flexibility, and poise. They are mainly jumps that range in difficulty.

 

                  

 

 

 

 

This is the toe-touch. It is one of the most basic and common used jump. From a prep position, you swing your arms into a “tee” bringing your legs with them. The higher and tighter the jump is, the better.

 

 

This jump is called a pike. A pike is usually performed facing sideways to show flexibility and execution of the jump. You start in prep position, and swing your arms to the front putting your legs in a pike. Height is important for landing correctly.

 

                                        

 

            

This is a hurkey. The front leg is straight while the back leg is bent. This can be done on either the right, or left leg. You do just as you would with the pike, only split your legs. Making sure the back leg is bent is crucial. tboehmFor all jumps it is important for height, but this one is it is much needed.

 

 

 

 

 

                                     

 

 

Jumps are put into combinations, for a more level of difficulty.
