The Pittsburgh Steelers defense aka the steel Curtain was on of the best in the league. Pittsburgh’s D has some of the biggest names in the league like Troy Polamalu, Casey Hampton, Joey Porter, and James Farrior. The Steelers defense could shut down some of the best in the league and was known for their blitz. Pittsburgh’s defense might not have had the fastest or strongest players on the league but they definitely could play some Steelers football. If it wasn't for the defense the Steelers would never made the playoffs or won the super bowl.

Troy Polamalu, Joey Porter, Casey Hampton, and Aaron Smith were one reason offences were afraid to play the Steelers. Joey Porter scared a lot of running backs and Quarterbacks being one of the biggest trash talkers and strongest players in the NFL. Also, Aaron Smith and Casey Hampton shutting down the run gain and taking at least two people to block them. Lastly, Troy Polamalu made Quarterbacks afraid and he made shour they always were aware and that they always new were he was. Troy also made receivers afraid to go over the middle and he made them no that they better always no where and how he is playing them and the field. If it wasn’t for those dominate defense of players the Steelers would of never made it to the playoffs or have won super bowl 40.

The defense of line was one of the best pass rushers in the league. They also new how to stop the run, and most teams had a hard time blocking them. The Steelers line is big, fast, strong, and shut down any one that come their way and didn’t give the quarterback much time to throw. The Pittsburgh defense is also known for their blitz and every quarterback is afraid of the Steel Curtin especially if they ever had played the Steelers. The line always had the quarterback hurting the next morning.

The Steelers defense of backs held receivers to a total of 15 touchdowns witch doesn’t even average 1 touchdown a game. Ricardo Colclough, Ike Taylor, and Deshea Townsend might not have been the fastest tallest or strongest cornerbacks in the NFL but they played like they were all of those things. They gave receivers a hard time they hit them and pushed them off the ball and never got out of their faces. Most people never heard of any of these players but receivers always new that it wasn’t going to be an easy job getting open or scoring on them.

The Pittsburgh Defense let up a total of 258 total points putting the in 3rd place in the NFL and making the one of the most feared Defenses in the NFL. The Steelers Defense was ranked 4th in the NFL and had some of the best hardest hitting players in the NFL. Only allowing an average of 3.4 yards per run that put the Steelers in 1st place in the NFL and made most rushers afraid to go against the Steelers defense. Also only allowing 15 passing touchdowns put the Steelers in 2nd place in the NFL. Most would agree that the Steelers defense is one defense that u don’t want to go up against.
