Heavy aircrafts are the largest category of plane.  Most heavy planes are used for things besides travel.  They are used for shipping goods from far away.  If you order something off of the internet from across the country or globe it will probably come to your doorstep having had a long plane ride.  Heavy planes are most commonly used for commercial airliners like Delta airlines, Continental airlines or large businesses.  They are very rarely owned privately.  These big planes weigh up to hundreds of thousand of pounds.

The two largest manufacturers of heavy aircrafts are Boeing and Airbus.  They also make smaller private jets, but are most known for they’re jumbo jets.  Commercial airlines and large businesses are the two biggest buyers of the jumbo jets.  This is because they are so expensive.  The newest aircraft from Boeing, Dreamliner 787, will cost over 2 billion dollars. 

Airplanes are one of the biggest forms of advertisement around.  Most of the commercial jets today have their logos printed on them.  Business jets are one of the biggest forms of advertisement on a plane.  Many companies will pay millions of dollars to get their names on the sides of a jumbo jet.

On an aircraft of any kind safety is the most important to word.  This is true especially on commercial airlines.  All planes have very high tech safety systems.  If an engine dies, this is extremely unlikely because the engines are made to go for very long periods of time and are checked before each and every flight with the highest of expectations.  If an engine does quit out you have to remember that the engines are for taking off and accelerating the plane, not keeping the plane in mid air.  So if you do not have any engines you will be glided safely to the nearest landing site.  Plane crashes are another worry amongst many people, but people don’t really know that there are less plane crashes in a year than people getting struck by lightening.  Everyday safety gets taken to a new level when it comes to airplanes.

Flying a jumbo jet is not the easiest thing to do.  There are hundreds of instruments that are essential in flying a plane safely and exactly were a plane may need to go.  That is why being a pilot on one of these jets extremely hard.  All pilots must remember and know how all of the instruments on a plane are used, how to read them, why and when to use them, where they are located on a plane, and fix them if they’re broken.  These instruments are very complex and sophisticated.  There are ones for Measuring altitude, location, weather, thrust, landing gear, rudders, stabilizers, speed, security, and many other things which are crucial for having a smooth plane ride at tens of thousands of feet in the air.  That is why so much education is needed for flying a jumbo jet.
