The main difference between acoustic guitars and electric guitars is that acoustics have a hollow body and do not require an amp.

 

 

This is a basic acoustic guitar. Most acoustics are in this basic form. This particular one is an Epiphone DR-100.

 

This is another Epiphone guitar. As you can see this one is a little more detailed and is more expensive. This is an Epiphone Hummingbird.

 

This is an Ibanez Talman Acoustic-Electric. This kind of guitar can be played as an acoustic with no amp or may be plugged into an amp to be played as an electric.

 

Here is another example of an acoustic electric guitar. This is how a basic look to it. It is a Gibson Songwriter Deluxe.

 

Classical guitars are made for classical type music like this one shown. Classical guitars are a little smaller and use different strings. This model is a Gitane 326 Classical.

This is Neil Young. He played guitar in Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young. He also plays as a solo artist.

 

This is Johnny Cash. He played acoustic guitar as Johnny Cash.

 

 

Many artists don’t just play acoustic guitars. Many people play both and sometimes do acoustic version of their electric songs. This is called “Unplugged.”
