                 In this day of age, there are so many types of movies out in the world. There will probably more coming in the future. Though I can't say all the types, here are some types of movies.
  Silent Films- They are, for the most part, the first movies ever. They were in black and white, and they were all comedies back then. Thought they had no sound, they could still make the audience laugh. Many of the comedies back then would fall, hurt them selves, or get in dangerous places for laughs. Some of the silent comedians were, Buster Keaton, Charlie Chaplin, and Harold Lloyd. This kind of comedy is still used today in cartoons.                          

         

              

                                                                 

 

 Action Films- These films used speed, chases, and other things to get the audience “pumped up". For most action films, they used heroes and villains to make these kinds of films. If you ever watched an action film, they have romance too, but they have smaller parts in the movie. Some examples are Indiana Jones, James Bond, and Rocky.                  

 
  Horror Films- These films use our fears to scare, and entertain, the audience. They were, for the most part, started in Paris. They were inspired by Gothic romances. The first horror movie was made in the eighth century. It was called The Devil's Castle. It was a hit when it came out. Now, there are many horror films. Some examples are, The Birds, Nightmare on Elm Street, and Night of the Living Dead.

 Western Films- There are that have cowboys and Indians as the main characters. With some big names like John Wayne, Clint Eastwood, and more as the main characters. Westerns were at their biggest after the following of the Civil War. Then, they were still big for about thirty years. Now, there is only one, or so every five years.
  Animation- These are a bunch of drawn pictures that tell a story. This first started with the optical toys that spun around, and had pictures on the sides. Animation started with cartoons. Until Computer Animation, (or CGI), most animated films used a process called "cel". This was the process where they had to have twenty- four separate drawings for a second of animation. Some of the most famous animated charters ever are Mickey Mouse, Bugs Bunny, and Felix the Cat.                 
      

Science Fiction or Sci-Fi as some people call it is a movie that has a plot that isn't true to facts that we have today. They are told in the future, and have many fancy costumes and make- up to make the person look less human like. Most Science Fiction movies are horror films. Some of the biggest films of all time are Sci-Fi, like Star Wars, Jurassic Park, and E.T.

 
 

Musicals- They are films that have songs and dances happen in the middle of scenes. They are most plays before they are movies. Sometimes, there regular movies, turned musical, turned musical movie. They have songs and dances to entertain the audience. Some big musicals are, Singing in the Rain, Wizard of Oz, and Grease.

 

     
           

Comedies- They are films that use sequence, and talking to make the audience laugh. They were started with silent films, and gone higher and higher. Comedies have always been favorites with the people, and always ended up high in the box office (where they find out how much a movie made somewhere). Some big comedies include, Airplane, When Harry meet Sally, and Anne Hall.

 
 

War - War Films have been shown to shown the feelings of the people in the war. Their feelings are of sadness, and anger, most because they're not with they're family. One of the first war films was The Birth of a Nation, made in 1915. It was about the Civil War. Most Western films were War films too. Some War films are Patton, The Great Escape, and Apocalypse Now.

Crime- These films are mostly about mob leaders, and gangsters. Some of the time, Crime movies are cop movies. Their main characters are always tough, and are angry about something in there life. They'll drink, and there is a lot of violence and language in the films. So, Crime movies are never really family movies. Action movies are also Crime films too. Some big Crime films are, Goodfellas, Bonnie and Clyde, and Scarface.
