Swimming

Pull buoys- This type of pull buoy is specially designed for arms only work. They fit length wise between you legs, just above your knees. They help you work on your stroke technique and make your arms stronger.

Kickboards- Kickboards are very useful buoyancy aids for legs only work. They will help you to improve your technique if you are just starting out. If you already swim, they can help to strengthen your legs.

Paddles- Paddles are used for extra arm work and for your stroke technique. In order for them to work for you, make sure they are the correct size for your hand and make sure the rubber bands are tight enough.

Goggles- Goggles will protect your eyes from pool chemicals and most importantly will help you see more clearly in the water. There are many different brands and types of goggles but you have to get the kind that fit you the best and have the most comfort.

Swim cap- Swim caps are used for mostly girls but some boys wear them too. Swim caps are used to create less drag on your body and, of course, keep the hair out of your eyes. There are many different brands and styles of swim caps. Most teams provide you a cap with the team name or with the team logo on it.

Swim suit- To cut down on drag in the water it is very important that your swim suit is your correct size and fits snugly. Competitive swimmers wear suits two sizes too small during meets. That is because the tighter, the less drag which means the faster. There are different styles and designs for swim suits.

Drag suits- Drag suits are the exact opposite of a racing suit. Drag suits are usually two sizes too big, made of mesh (like shown to the right), or, in a girls case, torn and tied again. Swimmers wear drag during practice and sometimes during the warm up of a big meet to work your arms and legs. When they take off the drag they go a little faster.

Fins- Fins are used to strengthen your leg muscles, help you on your kick technique, and help you on butterfly arms and the kick. They build strength and are a great tool during main sets and kick sets.
