The picture t the left is a picture of Reggie Hayward. His position is defensive end, he is part of the defensive line. The defensive lines in charge of trying to get the quarterback, or the ball carrier. Without the defensive line he running back would run allover the defense. |

The picture to the right is a picture of Troy Palumalu Pittsburgh Steelers safety. The job for a safety is to get deep and don’t let anyone get behind him or else they would probably score a touchdown. Without the safety the quarterback could just throw a pass deep and the offense would score.
