Major League Baseball

There are thirty teams in Major League baseball.  The teams are basically are split into two groups, the American League and the National league.  Many people follow baseball because it is one of our Nations pastimes.  There are several different conferences in the two leagues.   An example is east, west, and central.  The team that wins each conference goes to the playoffs to try and win the World Series.  They must beat the first team with three wins out of five games.  It is the same procedure for the next round.  If the team makes it that far they must win five games out of seven games.  If they do that they would win the World Series.  Then in March or April the team starts spring training by playing exhibition games, training, and drafting new players.  In May they start the season and try to go to the playoffs.  It’s a repeating cycle.  At the end of the year players get certain awards like MVP of the World Series, Rookie of the year award, and Cy Young award which demonstrates which pitcher did the best.  Midway through the season the MLB holds an all star game with players from every team by people voting.  What ever team wins has home field advantage in the World Series.  That is basically how baseball is played and how it works.
