| Formed in the early 80's, Guns N Roses brought metal back to a pop and glam-metal era. They were the first metal band to ever make it to number 1 on the pop charts with their song "Sweet Child O' Mine." |

Slash is Guns N Roses’ lead guitarist. He’s definitely in my top 5 favorite guitarists. After leaving Guns N Roses, Slash formed his own band, Slash’s Shakepit. Shakepit was a short-lived band, and Slash decided to move on and create Velvet Revolver. Slash is probably one of the most versatile guitarists out there. He can go from playing sweet melodies to crazy guitar solos. |

Released in 1987, Appetite for Destruction was Guns N Roses’ first album. One of its songs was the first ever metal song to make it to number 1 on the pop charts. Following Appetite for Destruction, Guns N Roses produced several CD’s. After Nivanna’s Nevermind reached #1 on the charts, GNR was nearly forgotten. Their album The Spaghetti Incident almost saved the band, but by 1994, the band fell apart.

In a time when the charts were full of dance music and hair metal, Slash, Axl Rose, Izzy Stradlin, Duff McKagen, and Steven Adler brought rock n roll back into the spotlight. They are the band, Guns N Roses. They were metal infused with blues and rock n roll.Even while battling drug problems, the band held it together and created some of the best songs known to man. Slash, who at one point didn’t even have a pulse due to excessive drug use, still played like a beast, and is sill out there today rockin’. Axl Rose wrote unbelievable lyrics accompanied by Izzy Stradlin. Izzy and Slash were an unstoppable guitar duo. Duff and Adler teamed up to become a memorable rhythm section. The Rock World was crushed when the band finally split in 1994.
