Audioslave

Audioslave front man Chris Cornell, formerly of Soundgarden, is possibly one of the world’s greatest singers. Cornell is also the band’s lyricist. Unlike most lyricists, Cornell doesn’t want his lyrics to be politically influenced. In Audioslave’s newest album, Revelations, the lyrics are slightly political. Cornell usually writes about life and his experiences.

Tom Morello. Formerly of Rage Against the Machine, is in my opinion today’s guitarist. He is constantly coming up with insane guitar solos and beautiful melodies. He ranges from hip-hop style solos and synthesizer-like sound effects to simple scratches down the strings and neck. Audioslave recently joined Axis of Justice, a non-profit organization formed by Morello and Serj Tankian. The purpose of Axis of Justice is to “Bring together musicians, fans of music, and political organizations to fight for social justice together”

Audioslave’s fantastic rhythm team consists of Tim Commerford on bass and Brad Wilk on drums. Both are extremely talented and create wonderful rhythms. Commerford and Wilk are also formerly of Rage Against the Machine along with Tom Morello.

All together, Chris Cornell, Tom Morello, Tim Commerford, and Brad Wilk, form the band Audioslave. They form the ultimate super-group with all of their talent and playing on each others strengths. Audioslave is proud to say that all sounds in their music are made by guitar, bass, drums and vocals. In 2002, they released their first CD, Cochise, which eventually went multi-platinum. Then, in 2005, they returned and released their second album, Out of Exile. Their newest album, Revelations, has just recently been released. On the same month that Out of Exile was released, Audioslave played a historic concert in Havana, Cuba, which made them the first American rock band to play an outdoor show in that country.
